The following checklist needs to be completed when an anaesthetic allergy is suspected in order to ensure appropriate follow-up of the patient.

  • Call your consultant or colleague ASAP...
  • Then Resuscitate
  • When stable follow the Checklist

Once completed, the anaesthetic allergy clinic (usually St Marys' Clinic) will be responsible for investigation of the patient. They will contact you and the surgeon with the results of the screening.

It is possible for the patient to be seen urgently if there are clinical grounds for this (e.g. patient needs an urgent operation).

You absolutely HAVE to fill out an AAGBI Allergy form as below or the patient referral will not be accepted.
